purpose:
To concept, illustrate & redesign* out-dated novels in order to get young people excited to read.
concept:
Since every book is out-dated, I wanted to showcase the main character’s identity through a modern logo & imagery.

In The Scarlet Letter, I created a tear drop forming & scattered A’s in her eye to show that throughout time, the A still marks her sin & will always live inside of her. The scene in her pupil is the town persecuting her.

In Moby Dick, I created the scene of the whale looking at the boat of men hunting him using spears. There is a pool of blood forming in the water to symbolize the pain the whale & men can never escape.

In Black Beauty, the main character was a foal & was in the pasture with his mom under an apple tree. The scene in his eye is symbolic of looking past the darkness & seeing the positive in everything.
